AFRO B
Afro B is the leading figure in the UK’s exploding Afrowave scene. Drawing on afrobeats, hip-hop, bashment, RnB and more, Afro B has been instrumental in creating an addictive new genre that has taken over clubs and radio alike, worldwide. Whether singing kizomba flavoured love songs, rapping on bass heavy hip-hop bangers, or lacing up-tempo afro dance tracks with classic sing-a-long hooks, Afro B has dedicated himself to constantly pushing his sound forward--creating hit after hit along the way.
After helping compile the scene-defining Moves: The Sound Of UK Afrobeats compilation--the first ever overview of a scene that has exploded from London to go worldwide--Afro recorded his own classic take on the genre, “Drogba (Joanna).”
As “Drogba (Joanna)” accumulated millions of streams and views worldwide, the tune travelled further and further. There have been Japanese versions, Columbian versions, Australian versions, Swedish versions and more. The track has received an unofficial remix via hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes, an official reworking from African megastar Wizkid, and an official remix featuring superstar French Montana.
The cultural wave of ‘Drogba (Joanna)’ continues to go viral around the world, cementing Afro B as a new kind of artist: UK based but with a global appeal.
