WE ARE SHINING
We Are Shining sound like no one else. They are a psychedelic road trip through unknown towns; they're the strangest house party you've ever been to. Their music is a swirling whirlwind of bucking guitar riffs, ferocious grooves and fragmented, soulful hollering, veering between rock, blues, gospel and whatever else gets sucked in along the way: hold on tight, because it's a wild ride.
Morgan Zarate and Acyde - the two men behind We Are Shining - can't agree on exactly when they met: Zarate believes it was while he was drumming for Mo' Wax outfit Attica Blues, while Acyde thinks it was after Zarate had joined the ‘future soul’ group Spacek. Still, Zarate can pinpoint exactly when he knew that he'd work with Acyde one day: "When I heard the DJ Vadim remix of DJ Cam's 'Innervisions' in, with Acyde rapping about going to Calais or something on a boat. I was like, that guys got a really great voice. I'd always see him out and about and always remember how good his tone was.”
